In the new trailer for the game, debuted as part of the 2016 E3 gaming expo, Akuma is seen in an epic martial-arts battle with Tekken mainstay Heihachi, with the two fighters (considered among the most powerful and dangerous in the lore of their respective series) coming to blows after Akuma makes a cryptic reference to Heihachi's (supposedly) deceased wife Kazumi further confirming that Akuma will play a part in the canonical storyline of the game as opposed to being an out-of-context bonus feature. However, in the meantime, it has now been re-confirmed that Street Fighter character Akuma will appear as a guest character in Tekken 7, an arrangement first announced in 2015. But while Capcom's Street Fighter X Tekken was released in 2012, Bandai Namco has thus far failed to release a complete Tekken X Street Fighter. Way back in 2010, classic gaming mainstays Capcom and Bandai Namco announced that the long-awaited crossover between the legendary Street Fighter and Tekken fighting game franchises would not only finally occur, but play out across two games, with each company placing the other's "guest stars" in the context of their native franchise.
